PowerON Awarded Pivotal Bus Electrification Project by City of Regina

Partnering to Reduce Emissions Through Fleet Electrification

PowerON is proud to announce its selection by the City of Regina for a groundbreaking project to electrify Regina Transit's bus fleet. The project will see the implementation of charging for up to 60 electric buses, in addition to other key facility upgrades. This partnership underscores PowerON's expertise in heavy fleet electrification and its commitment to helping municipalities and businesses reduce emissions.

PowerON has led the design process and procurement of charging equipment, and is providing installation quality assurance, performing commissioning, and implementing an advanced charge management system to optimize charging operations and reduce energy costs. The company will also provide ongoing operations and maintenance support and Clean Fuel Regulation credit management going forward.

"We're excited to leverage our expertise to support the City of Regina in this critical initiative," said Keegan Tully, President and CEO of PowerON. "Our experience with heavy duty fleets and transit authorities across Canada positions us well to simplify the process for our partners and deploy charging quickly, ensuring Regina can achieve its environmental goals efficiently and cost-effectively."

This initiative, supported by the Federal Government's Zero Emission Transit Fund, aligns with the Regina Transit Master Plan and the Energy and Sustainability Framework, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 100 percent by 2050. The project is a significant step toward Regina Transit's goal of completely replacing its current fleet of over 120 buses with zero-emission alternatives by 2040.

By leveraging PowerON's expertise in energy management and charging infrastructure, Regina Transit is poised to become an early leader in Western Canada in sustainable public transportation.
